Pleske's Ground Jay

Iranian Ground Jay or Pleske's ground jay is one of the endemic species in Iran. Central and eastern deserts of Iran are the regions where bird watchers expect to see them. Ground jays are adapted to ground living. Their long, strong legs help them run fast and the ability to leap and bound onto boulders and rocks with great agility, and their long, curved thick bills for digging and probing are the interesting features of the bird. Ground Jay called “Zaq’e Boor” in Iran, mostly runs on the ground and jumps on the bushes and you seldom see them flying. Kerman and Shahre Babak are the cities you can go and watch these birds in the surrounding deserts.
